Why does everyone seem to ask if I had chemo?

Most people know very little about different types of breast cancer and media promote the bald brave woman image so I guess everyone assumes bc means chemo.
Most celebrities that have promoted breast cancer treatment etc have required chemo. 
Christina applegate hasn't. ..but she had much less publicity at the time.
