Well.....after finally finishing nearly 6 months of chemo.... My hair has started to grow back....yay....but it's WHITE.... Does this change? I am 50 and was a bit grey.... But not this grey....anyone else experience this?

Hi there, Yes I would like to know about this too. I am still doing Taxol 6/12 down but my hair is starting to come back ( it's very very short!) It's all totally white . I am only 41 and prior to losing my hair didn't have a grey hair on my head!!! I was wondering of this was normal too ? Take care , Sophie x

Hi This happened to me as well, I did have quite a bit of grey before chemo, but when it came back it was white and then it started coming through coloured. It was very funny-opposite to what I usually had instead of grey roots, I had coloured roots. It sorted itself out after a few months, but I did get it coloured at the hairdressers when it was long enough. Janice

I think it takes a little while for the pigment part of the hair follicle to recover from the effects of the chemo. So that is why the first new growth is white. It happened to me too but most of my hair is the same colour as it was prior to chemo now (3 1/2 months after last chemo). :)Deanne

Hi Fiona,, you lucky duck,lol xx what chemo were you having,, and how often,, did you do anything to help with it,, I start chemo on Wednesday,, I'm 50 and have no grey that I can see, but maybe there somewhere, I have fine hair,, and brows,, I expect to lose all, I'm on 3 x FEC once every 3 weeks,, followed by 3 x Docetaxel 1every 3 weeks,, take care,, love Lorraine. I am so fortunate that my hair grew back to my original colour of a dark blonde. I didn't have a grey hair before so not sure if this helped as I am 51 and also had my eyebrows waxed 4 weeks ago. I finished my 6 months of chemo only 3 months ago and had completely lost my eyebrows so am not sure what I am doing right or if it is just luck. I quite like my new look. Cheers Fiona

Hi,

I know its a bummer but look to the bright side, they WILL grow back. It just takes a little time. Im not sure if there is waterproof eyebrow pencil stuff. Why not try usind a eye lining pen, the liquid kind, I think you can get waterproof ones of those. Enjoy your holiday and stuff what you look like, Its only your opinion that counts, dont give a s**t about what other people think. You are beautiful!

i so agree with you Keryn, i cant stand looking at myself in the mirror!!! i am 2 weeks post chemo.....1 eyebrow completely gone and 1 virtually gone...i am ok with eyebrow eye make up but we are going up north in a few weeks and i am desperately looking for some waterproof eyebrow makeup...so far i have had no luck....its all so hard...the way i look is having such a huge impact on how i feel....i just want to be "me" again.....

My eyebrows have never fully recovered and my eyelashes took so long to grow back I was thinking it would never happen.

My hair started white and then turned a silver, but it came back curly, I am told I will loose this but I am 8 months post chemo with a full head of thick hair and the curls are still here! yay me I say I am loving them.

So I guess for us all its a waiting game on the hair and to be honest I am just grateful to have it back.

Hi, This worst thing for me was the exiting of my eyebrows. It makes your face look entirely different, then most of my eyelashes left as well. But they do grow back. My eyebrows came back pretty quickly but it has taken a while for my eyelashes to be full again.

It's weird.... White fluffy hair growing back and eyebrows I can now say have officially exited stage left... And right! Hope they don't come back white too!!!'
