I have recently finished my radiation in the public system in Perth.
You may want to consider asking for a morning or afternoon appointment to fit in with work or kids. I had my appointments late in the afternoon to enable me to fit in work. They will then give you a list of all your appointments for the radiation.
I agree that you have limited contact with the consultant but you get to know those who operate the machine and the nurses very well. The nurses will advise you on skin care and what products you should use. Everyone I came across was lovely.
