- JwrennMember@StarGirl I didn’t feel any nausea but would have liked to have to lost a bit of weight!
- TerryTeeMemberThat's good to hear. I think I will ask to have it.
- StarGirlMemberHi @TerryTee, yes the mepitel was brilliant. Just went a bit pink and if it got itchy I just put my creams over the top. The mepitel is breathable so I could rub my cortisone cream into it and it penetrated really well. I had to have it replaced fairly often as I had radiation in the height of Summer. I still got the gross brown spots, but they all came off again and the skin was then totally normal. I have a tiny bit of lung damage on that side, but I think that happens to everyone.
- TerryTeeMemberthank you for that tip. Did the Mepitel work well for you?
- StarGirlMember@TerryTee, I had left sided bc radiation with Mepitel and the breathhold thing. It was quite easy, so don’t worry. Something I wished I had been aware of earlier was the nausea and loss of appetite. I lost about 5kg because I felt so sick. I thought it was just me, but apparently the radiation can irritate your stomach as it’s quite close to where the radiation goes. I wish I had known they were common side effects and asked for anti-nausea medication. Best of luck with it all xx
- TerryTeeMemberI'll start practising that.
- JwrennMember@TerryTee you’ll probably be told to do deep breath holding for about 20 -25 seconds. I practised before hand ( when I couldn’t sleep 😴) and it wasn’t to hard to hold. I just count while I’m doing it.
- TerryTeeMemberThankyou jwrenn
- TerryTeeMemberI do have a left BC. Thank you.
- lrb_03MemberIf you had a left sided BC, ask how they protect your heart, or any potential impact on it.
Also ask about skin care, and if mepitel or strataxrt is an option
