Waiting

Radiology oncologist

After chemo, op and radiation I asked for a CT scan.

3 weeks after CT scan and my medical oncologist who had the results first and asked his receptionist to phone me and say “all clear and nothing to worry about”. Out of the blue at 4pm to-day my radiology oncologist phoned to say the same as above but went on to say although only a neck and chest CT was ordered the person doing the CT also caught my head.

There appears to be a suspicious small something or other in my head and MRI is the ordered move. I said I don’t think I can do an MRI as I am very sacred of small spaces. The radiology oncologist said she was not working tomorrow but would get back to me shortly. She wanted to check with the person who had done the report if another CT was the go or it must be an MRI.

The waiting game begins.

Should I be worried? Anyone else had this outcome?

Hope all you pink sisters are doing well.

Sarah

  • Hi Sarah, I am just back from NZ visiting my 93yr old mother who thinks she may not live much longer but  is still a total cow (you'd think she would grow out of it).

I just noticed your post about the suspicious something in your head, and being sent for an MRI, which was about a month ago, and wondered how you are going with all that, hope it panned out ok for you.

    best wishes

  • Hi Sarah, Thinking of you as the waiting game continues. As previously mentioned, thre are some really good sedatives that can be given to anxious people prior to MRI. I use to work in radiology, and many people are claustrophobic and anxious, and following the sedatives would often be so sure the MRI hadn't occured because they had no memory of the procedure, yet they had remained concious throughout. Just explain your fears when you book in, and there will be a protocol that they follow for you. Good luck Sarah, you have already been through such a lot. I hope this will be nothing at all. Love Chris xx

As robyn suggested a sedative would help - there is a group of drups that reduce anxiiety a small does plus take your faviourite music to listen to and you can get through the MRI. Just think lovely lady what challenges you have got through so far. MRIs are superior to CTs in finding subtle changes. Have you heard of a technique of guided imaginary it can assist with getting through difficult situations. Hope your drs get back to you soon. Joy xoxo

  • Hi Sarah.I haven't had this outcome, but I just wanted to suggest that if an MRI is the only way to go,maybe you could ask for a sedative of some sort .As you already know, the waiting is the worst.Try not to worry too much at this stage .Take care and stay in touch Sarah.xoxRobyn
