Treatment over

Hi all,

I haven't been able to get on here because the login wasn't accepting from my tablet, all good now.

I finished my radiotherapy of 16 sessions down in brisbane where i stayed for a month, i was lucky the hospital was a short walk from my brothers house. I had no affects on my skin from the treatment maybe a slight redness is all. I used moo goo a product recommended from the cancer council worked a treat and is completely natural.

Thi king this was the easy part, yeah no, now in week 4 away from treatment and still feel the face plant of the bus that hit me, fatigue is not going away, the aches are still there, then i saw my oncologist last week that wants me to take tamoxifen, like are u kidding me! Already feeling bashed so lets bash some more! I appreciate them wanting to ensure that reoccurrence is not an issue here but how about some suggestions on getting over this part first! Brings me to thinking why aren't the medicos and alternate therapies working together for the betterment of us as patients? Wouldn't the decision making be easier? I am nervous of telling my doctors that i went to a naturopath last week who gave me somethings to rebuild my system.

Anyone else still feeling the affects this far out from treatment?

Cheers Janet

  • Thanks guys I was beginning to struggle a bit. Knowing it is normal makes me feel better. I will make decisions down the track, the thing is my hormone receptors are only at 10% the effectiveness of the drug is very low for me so that is the confusion as to why my oncologist insisted whereas last visit she wasn't concerned about me taking it so its  confusing.

I'm eating well, walking the beach, doing yoga and getting back into painting.

  • Hi Janet your body your choice do what you are comfortable with. I'm on Tamoxifan for 10 years. I have been on since August last year hot flushes have settled a bit, still annoying.

I'm still really tired and oncologist has said I need to give my body time to recover from the last 12-14 months of surgeries, chemo and herceptin. take care

  • Hello:) It takes a loong time!!! In the beginning, you think that you will never get over it,and then suddenly one day you realise that you are starting to feel better. My advice is to eat HEALTHY food, exercise EVERY day,and try to do what you ENJOY!!! This is a time of physical and emotional rebuilding.I bet that in about 3 months you will realise that you really are getting there!! Don't push it:) I started Tamoxifen 4 weeks after chemo.I had the initial hot flushes, broken sleep etc.Now,17 months after treatment,I feel BLOODY GREAT and have more energy than I ever had.:) Don't push it and you will get there.Cheers Robyn xox
