THE FINAL COUNTDOOOOOOWWWWNNN!!!

THE FINAL FRONTIER - RADIOTHERAPY

There goes another weekend!

This one was a bit more exciting than usual as hubby and I went on a twighlight dinner cruise aboard the Southern Swan Tall Ship.

The Southern Swan has a unique nautical history. In 1969 she was purchased as a private vessel and extensively refitted to handle larger and longer ocean voyages. She served as a sail training vessel with the Canadian Sea Cadets and journeyed to Vancouver to appear at the World Expo in 1986. She then sailed to England to join the First Fleet Re-enactment.

The Southern Swan made the voyage from England to Australia in 1988 to take part in the famous Australian Bicentennial First Fleet Re-enactment. Her berth has been at the historic Campbell's Cove, The Rocks ever since.

We caught the train in and wandered around The Rocks, looked through the markets and stopped for a drink at the very fancy Park Hyatt Sydney before boarding the ship.

While it was a bit chilly, it was an awesome experience and athough there were about 90 other people on board....it was very relaxing and peaceful......there's just something about the ocean...it really does soothe your soul....

Today I am feeling all that walking! Oh well,  push through, just like the Dr said....

This week sees my last week of treatment! Yes, that's right it's THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!!!! dah dah dah dahhhh! dah dah dah dah dah! :D

I only have 4....YES FOUR!!!! sessions of radiotherapy left! I will have my last session on Thursday, which so happens to be my 50th birthday!  So, DOUBLE celebration!

It has seemed like an eternity to get here and I can't believe this is it!  As of Friday this week, I will no longer have to front up to the cancer clinic for treatments! Sure I'll have appointments to attend to over the next few months....but no more poisonous chemicals.....no more burning rays...

I am so looking forward to the end of active treatment....I have been through HELL and the end seemed sooooo far away....but here it is.....the chequered flag is poised....that light is blinding.....I'd better get my sunnies out, 'cos this girl is DONE!

......Done with YOU bitch.....

  • It's a good feeling approaching that finishing line. I finished radio almost 3 years ago now (12 Nov 2013). Had a little celebration with a few friends and family. You really feel such a heavy weight shift off your shoulders when you walk out that last day! Enjoy!! xxx

  • Checked flag is waiting...you'll be bouncing along to radio this week. Now you can start to plan life after cancer treatment. Great stuff.
  • Woohoo!  Are you going to do something to celebrate?  I drew a happy face and wrote "zap me" with an arrow pointing towards my breast on myself before my final radiation treatment.  I discussed it with a nurse first, she said so long as it wasnt written in the treatment area I would be fine.  We were planning for days what to put, her suggestion was "hot X buns" with an arrow :)
