Taxol 2

Today I had my second dose of Taxol. With this chemo I have to take pre chemo drugs BEFORE treatment but don't need drugs AFTER treatment.

Each week will be different as the oncologist observes how I am reacting to the Taxol.

For this second dose I only needed to take 2 Dex tablets at bedtime as well as one Zantac - this also helps prevent nausea and heartburn. Then 2 more Dex on waking; and a Zanatc and Claratyne an hour before treatment.

At the clinic the oncologist decided to go with a vein on the side of my wrist as the elbow site was still a bit sore. Took bloods then dripped in some pre chemo Dex. Then an hour of Taxol dripping in. Always finish with a bit of saline flushing.

All fine and again feeling pretty good considering!

  • Hi Erica, good to hear you are doing better on the Taxol. Everyone reacts differently, I'm lucky, I didn't take anything other than what they gave me on the day. A better or more modern drug (my oncologist's words) for heartburn is Nexium. My oncologist prescribed it and its really good for relieving heartburn. The wrist vein I found hurts! You doing really well, you must have good veins. I look at mine and even now after not being used for about four months are still in hiding. Cheryle :)
