Stress relievers

So today was my first radiation treatment and just like surgery & chemo, I was dreading it!!! Somehow the anticipation is usually worse than the actual event - haha I found out that is so not true with chemo. I could never have imagined the toll that takes on your body. My first CT planning visit complete with tattoos would have radiated my heart too, so now having it face down, hopefully with no more tattoos. Already stressed!

I found that keeping busy this last week helped with the stress. So I made Rum balls with lots of rum and Brandied Plum Pudding with, you guessed it, lots of brandy. But I think the best de-stresser was making the Apricot balls. Usually I turn 2 packs of biscuits into crumbs using the food processor. This year I put the bikkies in a bag, got my rolling pin and bashed the darn bikkies OVER & OVER AGAIN!!!   Man! That felt so good! Some times you just gotta let it out.

Radiation was nowhere near as bad as I'd built it up to be. My only not happy moment was having a male tech manipulate what goes where, but hey, at least I was face down so he didn't see me blushing like a Beetroot. 1 down, 29 to go AND all those Rum balls to enjoy!

Wishing all you brave ladies a Christmas filled with joy and peace, surrounded by the ones you love.

bless you, Tracey xXx

  • Thanks Ann-Marie, somehow the Rum & Apricot balls have all disappeared. My adult sons turn into little boys when it comes to Christmas food, just no stopping them. Isn't it funny how something as simple a tradition as making food that never quite makes it to Christmas, says "I love you", in a way that is more meaningful than words alone?

Hope you find a meaningful way to say Merry Christmas to those you love, Tracey xXx

  • Hi Melvery, I know this is a busy time of year, but get as much rest as you can after that last bout of chemo. Time to sit back & let everyone look after you this Christmas. Hope you are feeling strong soon and have a happy Christmas, love, Tracey

  • Hi Allsopt, I'm lucky my taste buds have recovered in time for Christmas. Wishing you a merry Christmas, love, Tracey
