Hi @PatsyN the “jelly” that they put over is called bolus, it is made out of tissue equivalent material meaning it has the same density as your skin. It’s purpose is to trick the Radiation into thinking your skin starts that 0.5-1cm earlier, this means that it drops its maximum dose closer to your skin. Bolus is used a lot for post mastectomy patients if there was any question of skin involvement or if there is not much tissue left to pull the dose away from the lung, also used for inflammatory breast cancer. The use of bolus does increase the skin reaction but it sounds like you’ve got that covered and are travelling well :)
