Strata XRT gel

@Julez1958 yes, she’s absolutely fantastic 😊🥰. All med professionals need to be like that. Sooo lucky I found her and my new surgeon 🍀♥️. Dr Nagy actually works at St Vincent’s too, and she mentioned to me a few months ago possibly having my recon with James Southwell - Keely too, but I decided definitely only implants so she’ll do them. 

Yes my radiation oncologist was Joanne Toohey and although I love all my Doctors she was my favourite!
My cancer surgeon is Dave Segara and my plastic surgeon is James Southwell - Keely.
I am planning to have my DIEP surgery in June or July at St Vincent’s Private where I had the mastectomy.
I have found the reconstruction group on here very helpful.
Although I guess that’s a little off topic.

@Julez1958’I had my radiation there too in July last year. Who was your onc? Mine was Joanne Toohey. She’s brilliant and I love her. She and my current surgeon Eva Nagy are working on my case together to fix what was erred previously. They are so beautiful, they restored my trust in medical specialists 😊♥️

Hi there,
I had 28 days of radiotherapy at Genesis Care Darlinghurst in Sydney after a left mastectomy late last year.
Because of the leftover skin folds I had (reduced from an E cup to a C cup) they could not use the Mepitel on me.
I had to send away to the US for the strata xrt but it was worth it.
I had almost no redness at all, just a bit where the breast meets the upper body which was very minor.
You only need to use a tiny bit, I put it on a couple of hours before each session and washed it off in my nightly shower, then moisturized (Moo Goo) and re applied the next day.
Had a break weekends when I moisturized three times a day.
I have really sensitive skin (get sunburned easily and heat rash when I go to the tropics) so was pleasantly surprised at how effective it was.
I only used one tube.
If you have issues after radiotherapy is finished you can use it as well to help them settle down.

I was told to put it on once a day after shower. And you need to keep using it for a month after as well apparently although I admit that I was less vigilant with using it than I had been during treatment

@MicheleR it is still useful for you this late into therapy.  Ask you onc about it. I had to buy it myself and it cost $120 a tube with the 40% discount I was given.  Hope all goes well for you. 

@Troods I might be wrong sorry  it was 12 months ago.My memory is shocking. Do what the nurse tells you x 

I have not used this. Im up to zap 22 and i feel lightly roasted with crackling. If offered to you take it.

@Troods I think the strata goes on before, as you need it on during treatment. Afterwards you apply the same or a different cream. 

Hi Greengirl, so you put it on after each treatment?  Interesting as I was told by nurse to put it on before?  Maybe I should be putting it on afterwards then???
