  • Ask them about Mepitel Film to avoid burns.  It is the best product on the market, no creams or lotions needed it prevents burning.
  • Working through radiation was a doddle compared with trying to work through chemo! I arranged to finish work a little early get radiation done and get to the high school to pick up the girls. Luckily appontments were on time and would be over in 15 minutes. Luckily all within 15 minutes for me.The worst thing was trying to get a good park at the hospital. I didn't feel espescially tired like with chemo although did get a bit burned week 5, so had to rest a week off, but it healed up so quick I was snorkelling off the Barrier Reef a week after finishing! I'm sure you will go well. ☺
  • Pammy, i worked through too and at the end i had to have 2 weeks off my Radiologist demanded it. The fatigue was quite bad. Glad you have a supportive workplace!  Great! X
  • Hi adean
i too will be driving to work after each radiation I had only been in my job 5 months when I was diagnosed.. so have exhausted all my leave with surgery I will take time off without pay if need be they are very supportive x
  • Hi there lm 4.5 years post and l did find radiation exhausting l would have treatment and drive to work being the stubborn devil l am l now wish l had taken some time of especialy at the end. I agree with the ladies solugel is amazing keep it in the fridge l burnt after the 25th treatment l had 30. I used to carry a frozen gel pouch each treatment and put it over my clothing to cool the breast down l also used a crystal stick deodarent and a pure sorb soap. Worth a try. If u do burn its amazing how quick it goes. I did find my first treatment emotional and l cried in the carpark. All the best adean
  • Hi Pammy, so glad you have things in motion. I also had to use solugel but not until the end of treatment thankfully. I did suffer severe burn but at the end as its cumulative. Absolutely doable! It's quick and painless! They also recommend switch to an aluminium free deodorant, such as crystal etc. hugs for getting through. Me.i da xo
  • The hardest thing about radiation therapy is going there daily. I had 25 plus the 5 boost. The last week the skin got a little tender but that went away quickly. These are the two creams I was given to use from the cancer unit. If they haven't mentioned it you will see a nurse each week after radiation and ask them because it helps alot. The treatment doesn't take long 10 minutes give or take. Best wishes xo
  • Every new step brings you closer to the end of treatment but more anxiety of the unknown. I haven't had radiation but most ladies I know who have say it is totally doable, makes you tired and fed up but doable. You got this. Kath x
