Round two

Day 1 - after round 2

Had my second round of chemo yesterday. I arrived for my infusion with the same nervousness as the first, sweaty hands and all...My nurse was excellent, she found a vein and got the cannula in first go...Because my nausea was so bad after the first one, I got given a stronger medication for the nausea this time and by the end of chemo I was nearly asleep! I went home and slept it off..

Today, the nausea is still there, but way more bearable than the first time..the extra tablets are definitely helping...

The chemical hangover is still the same, the heaviness is still the same. My eyes are getting better too, I ended up with conjunctivitis in both eyes after my walk on the beach in Sunday! Grrr....although still sensitive to the light and the computer screen! O.o

So for today I'll rest and let the chemicals do their thing.....Hopefully It'll be even better next time around..

Tomorrow is another day

Xx

  • One of the major things I have found with chemo is dry skin. I mean it gets exceptionally dry very fast. They recommend Sorbolene cream but when I was very hyper sensitive even that stung a little bit. Now I am using Fruit of the Earth 100% aloe vera gel and its great. I lather it on a couple of times a day all over and it doesn't block any pores. Particularly good on sore nostril membranes.

  • Gods these posts are all making me really appreciate my presently intact immune system. :( So anxious about starting chemo.

  • Hi Eileen... I'm on Fec-d every 21 days... Different to yours... I got conjunctivitis in both eyes from my nice walk in the beach in the weekend, so couldn't see very well! Coming good now with the drops I got at the chemist...

    Good  luck with your treatments...

  • Hi Tracy

Hope your feeling better today, not sure what chemo your on. I have been told I will be on  AC (doxorubicin & cyclophosphamide)chemo every 21 days for 4 treatments then paclitaxel weekly for 12 weeks, I have been worried about you as I had not seen any posts from you for a few days.

    Sending big hugs

    Eileen

  • For the eyes, get a script for Chlorsig eye drops from your doctor. If you are well enough to go to the pharmacy yourself it can be gotten without a script if they can see your eye troubles first hand. Its marvellous stuff and just one dose fixed my ailing left eye up first go.

  • Hey Kath,

im on fec-d every 21 days... For 6 rounds.... 4 to go!

I have been given advice to take two or amen instead of one and I'm in Dex for  two days after chemo...I also have some stronger ones in hand if need be... But so far I haven't reached for them yet...  So fingers crossed ...

  • Its taken me quite a few days to sort out my nausea and stomach flips. I'm  hoping round 2 will be smoother. What chemo regime are you on...just wondering? Thanks Kath.
