Round one
I actually slept really well last night , didn't think I would in anticipation of the morning.
Up early, went and bought some magazines to read through treatment.
Enter chemo clinic..... Shown where everything is...pick a chair! A lovely patient immediately reassured me everything was going to be ok, told me how to use the recliner and a bit about her treatment...
My nurse Summer appeared.... Lots of information (again) to listen too... And read! I was given a anti nausea tablet and a steroid ???? to start with
I also got a goody bag, yep! It's choc full of things to help with symptoms while on chemo.... And so more medication to take over the next few days and anti nausea tablets..
some
Nice warm towels were put on my arm.... Waiting, waiting for my veins to make an appearance ....
Found one! cannula put in without too much fuss, but that didn't stop my hands dripping with sweat! My lovely nurse laughed and said but you're covered in tattoos!
Funny how there IS a difference! Hee Hee!
My nurse Summer, explained what would happen next.... My chemo cocktail was 6 lovely syringes to be pushed very slowly by hand into I.V.... 3 large ones with wicked red liquid, I now know to be called 'red devil' by patients and 3 slightly smaller ones with clear liquid.... Once they were done time for the rest which came in a drip bag to be administered over 1/2
While waiting Ron and I talked , watched tv, ate sandwiches and cheese and crackers .... and before we knew it, it was over!
The body is an amazing machine, how quick things get filtered through your system! So now I've had blue pee and red pee! Lol!
Home now and apart from some prickly tingling in my hands and a MASSIVE toe to head hot flush, I'm feeling OK!
Time for a Nanna nap and see what tomorrow brings!
