Rads Grad

This morning I had my last radiation session. Can't believe I did 30 of those. Skin broke just this week so now I am learning about burn management. No bra for me for the next week or so. I have also developed cording - ouch!! Today developed rash on rest of body, low fever and nausea which was of a concern for medical staff. Endone is helping with the stinging from the burns as well as the cording. Sent home with a small carry-on-case-sized worth of dressings and creams. Have a feeling I am going to need all that. Hopefully my skin will start to recover soon.

  • Thanks San-Dee. It definitely wasn't as bad as I expected. Everyone said my skin held up really well. They gave me new gel today. I put it on after I posted the above and received instant relief from the stinging!!!!! So now, I know I am going to be just fine.

I know how hard it is to wait for treatment to begin. Hopefully your infection will be gone soon and mapping will happen not long after. My radiation took about 7 weeks thanks to Easter, maintenance days and public holidays. Looking back now, those weeks went really quick.

My husband drove me today so we could celebrate. He said now that I can cross surgery, chemo and radiation off my list there are no more mountains to climb, just maybe small road bumps.

Hope you feel better soon and good luck with it all.

  • I am so happy for you. Yay! Congratulations!!

I hope you manage the burns really well and we hear from you soon that all is ok.

You have given me hope. I am yet to start rad. Still battling an infection so mapping hasn't even happened. Being in this holding pattern is a pain in the proverbial. I can't wit to get to where you are now.

    Stay well.

Lots of hugs ... on the non burnt side.
