Starting radiation
Well, I’ve had my coaching session with the deep breathing. Not as scary as I thought, and I’m sure I’ll get better at it. Today I had my planning session, so start on 10th April. My cording has moved diwn my arm closer to my elbow so physio came and saw me as well. I’ve also joined a heart health trial for those with left side radiation. Having an mri and ultrasound of my heart on Sunday, then another six months after radiation finishes. Also got my treatment nurse. I had a breast care nurse for before and during surgery, now get another one for rads. Just love this hospital. If you have to have this rotten thing, at least everyone around you is friendly and helpful.51Views4likes1CommentRads Grad
This morning I had my last radiation session. Can't believe I did 30 of those. Skin broke just this week so now I am learning about burn management. No bra for me for the next week or so. I have also developed cording - ouch!! Today developed rash on rest of body, low fever and nausea which was of a concern for medical staff. Endone is helping with the stinging from the burns as well as the cording. Sent home with a small carry-on-case-sized worth of dressings and creams. Have a feeling I am going to need all that. Hopefully my skin will start to recover soon.5Views0likes13CommentsRadiation
hi everyone, had my mastectomy 4th December. Op went well but still requiring aspiration of A seroma. Getting about 100ml of fluid taken off about twice a week. I am due to go to the hospital next Monday 4th to be measured for radiation. My main problem is that I have scar tissue which is sticking to the chest wall and some slight cording under the arm which is making it difficult for me to raise my arm above my head. Have a great physio who has improved movement of arm but after having had physio feel quite sore. I suppose this is all normal? has anyone else had these issues before radiation and how long was it between op and radiation? A friend of mine in the UK had a wait of two months by which time she had ease of movement. Mind you she didn't have the problems with drainage or cording either. Happy New Year to everyone, hope 2016 will be a good year for you all! ?????????????????? Linda xx5Views0likes6Commentsbreast change after radiotherapy
Hi, I finished radio about 8 weeks ago and have recently noticed my boob is quite a bit bigger than my 'good' one. It seems like it has odema as I had that after my initial lymph surgery and its very similar now but is it normal for it to happen this long after I finished? I did have another armpit surgery 5 weeks ago and had a large ish seroma plus I have got fairly bad cording in my arm. I'm going in for herceptin on weds so will get the breast care nurse to look then plus I'm seeing my radiation oncologist ina couple of weeks but I'm starting to worry that something is wrong.... thanks for reading!
