Radiotherapy creams
Hi everyone, I will be starting radiation soon and was hoping for some recommendations for creams that people have found useful. Thanks in advance
Penonce Before my radiotherapy I was using MooGoo full cream moisturiser as I'd seen it mentioned in a few places.
During treatment I stuck with what the team gave me - mostly sorbolene but they also gave me two other products to help my skin as it reacted to treatment. They also put mepitel film over my breast which helped protect the skin and made it easier for me to wear a work shirt without the seams rubbing over the radiated area. Their products did the trick and my skin didn't break and I had minimal discomfort.
Strata XRT is spoken about a lot but it's expensive. I had contemplated buying it myself before treatment but thought I'd see how it goes without. During treatment I overheard the radiotherapy people talk to another patient about giving them Strata XRT so in some hospitals they may give it to those who need it to save them having to buy it.
Post radiotherapy I continued using the sorbolene for a while but as the redness started to ease I went back to MooGoo.
If you haven't already found it, there's a BCNA article about: Caring for your skin during radiotherapy
All the best with your radiotherapy.
