Radiotherapy blisters

Hi ladies -I know have  11 treatments done and have noticed small blisters near my scar (4 inches) from lumpectomy . I’m using StrataXRT morning & night and now QV moisturiser middle of day. What else can I do. Area going darker as I have a lot of sun damage to chest .
bit sore and sorry with 14 treatments to go .
Any suggestions?

  • @Louise64  Slosite gel is good to take the sting out .  Maybe try the Moogoo udder cream instead of the QV.  It's brilliant
  • @Louise64 you can buy Bepanthen antiseptic soothing  cream from the supermarket. I found it in the baby care section, used for nipple care. Cleared my blisters up very quickly.
  • @Louise64 according to the onc, it takes 14 days for skin to renew. So it won’t completely heal till 2 weeks after you finish radiation. But the nurses should give you special creams and also possible bandage it if it gets really bad. But for the meantime, try the aloe Vera. Put the leaf (big one better) in the fridge beforehand, so it’s nice and cool and soothing when you apply it. I loved it. My skin has completely healed but I’m still using it. It makes it very soft. And it dries up blisters. Plus it’s free of you can find it in a random garden, or cheap to buy Xx
  • @FLClover thanks I’ll try that - I did nothing today but hasn’t settled.
  • Hi @Louise64,
I had a couple of spots where the skin was broken, and red areas. I put the gel of an aloe Vera leaf directly on. Smeared the gooey stuff everywhere, and stuffed some of the flesh in my bra and left it there all day. Worked very well. Try it on the weekend before you see you rads nurses again. You can find aloe Vera plants everywhere. Hope it gets better Xx
  • Make sure you tell the Rads nurses about it before you get your next treatment @Louise64 Xx.

Can you ring your Breast Cancer/McGrath Nurse? If the skin is broken, be careful what you put on it.  Others will jump on soon with more advice xx

@JoeyLiz - being the weekend, can you help here?

all the best, take care xx
