Radiation treatment gaps

Should I be worried about the efficacy of radiation if there are gaps in my treatment?

I have been scheduled for 30 days and I was expecting to have 5 treatments a week, however, demand has meant that so far I have had 2 in the first week, 4 in the second and now 3 scheduled this week.

I had mentally prepared myself for the 6 week program, but now I might have to consider 8 or 9 weeks if I only have 3 treatments a week. My goal was to finish before the new year and celebrate.

I am  feeling unexpectedly upset/downhearted about the change in plans. Has anyone else experienced this?

I meet with the Radiation Oncologist on Thursday.  So far no one has explained the change in my treatment plan except to say that they are very busy - which of course makes me feel sad for others at what they might be going through leading up to Christmas.

  • Thanks for your advice Audrina.  I am hoping to get some news today that my treatment might be back on track.  I am quite concerned about dropping back to 3 days a week and the efficacy.  We all make choices hoping for the best outcomes - I didn't know that there might be delays like this.

Vey glad to hear that you are doing well since 2007.  All the best for a healthy future.
