Hello kittykatster ,
Aww that is so painful and you have a few days of treatment ahead of you too.
Strata XRT is amazing cream but I also used another one in conjunction with it & I call it a miracle cream! GOULDS radiotherapy cream comes from a naturopathy in Hobart.
It's about $30 for a tub and I used about 1 1/2 tubs.
Made from calendula & beeswax, it's more like an ointment..yellow and smelly but works a treat! Very soothing! It stains clothes so I bought some cheap black t- shirts from kmart that I could throw away once it was all over.

I used Strata xrt after my shower each morning before I went for radiation sessions, then once I got home I lathered the Goulds generously all over the area.
Then each evening another shower (yes 2 a day!) and re applied the Strata xrt for over night.
It was a dream remedy.
The evidence showed in the patch I missed under my arm...3rd degree burn there!!
I still took weeks of healing after the radiation so kept up the creams for about a month after finishing.
I did have a skin infection early on that needed antibiotics, & then towards the end I reacted to the cortisone cream they wanted me to use, breaking out in severe exzema and had to use Diprosone to clear it up so it certainly wasn't a walk in the park by any means.
But now a year later, my implant reconstruction which the Dr said would almost certainly fail is still thriving & he says he's never seen skin so good after radiation! Not even any tan to show for the weeks of skin trauma.
By all means show your radiation oncologist and they will have some suggestions to help you too.
Hang in there..you will get through it.
