I think it is more common than people realise. Both my breast nurse and oncologist said they have come across this many times.
Hardly seems fair after going through surgery and healing so well, to have mastitis flare up out of the blue for no apparent reason. It's the frustration more so than anything else as I usually respond so well to antibiotics.
Hope you are well and clear of your infection now and can move on with treatment.
