Radiation nearly over

It's been awhile since I've blogged so thought it was about time I shared a little. I was very pleased when chemo finished but unfortuantely it has left me with a lot of pain in my joints and difficulty in getting up and down.

I am ok when I am upright but the minute I sit down it is a trial to get up. I have been told this is quite normal and that it will go with time. Radiation hasn't been that bad, I only have 2 sessions left.

The last week has been all boosts which are concentrating on the actual region of the cancer. I am very burnt but so far managed to keep blisters away. I am starting to peel a little.

Looking forward to these treatments been over with and concentrating on getting my health back. I have put on a bit of weight so going to try and lose that, started with smoothies this week. Going to try a sweet one for brekkie lots of fruits and yoghurt and a veggie one for dinner. Plan on having a meal at lunchtime. Next step is hormone treatment, wonder what that will have in store for me!

I guess because i was so active and then just to stop has taken its toll. I blame the steroids as well but it's been 2 months since that stopped so can't keep blaming them. My hair is just starting to through, to my horror mostly white and in some places it is like stubble and others furry. So will be very interesting to see what I end up with. Take care Wendy
  • Your're so right about the exercise. Did you have problems with your joints after chemo? I'm just wondering how long this will last. Take care Wendy
  • You are just a little in front of me in regard to treatment. Last radiation yesterday and feeling sore, especially where my breast rubs my arm. Also my nipple has started to bleed, thought I was going to get away with no problems. In two weeks I go see about the hormone treatment. It's great you haven't had too many problems with those, especially since we will be on them for such a longtime. Take care Wendy
  • It is nice to hear about how you are going!I didn't have radiotherapy, but a lot of the ladies on here say that it is very tiring, especially towards the end.I am almost 6 months past chemo now.I am on Tamoxifen, and doing pretty well.I think sometimes that every little thing I feel,I blame on Tamoxifen, when in fact it is probably old age!!!!! I think that getting into the healthy eating, and trying to exercise, are the things that will help you feel much better again. Some daily walking might help your joints Gypsy.I don't think it's so much about the amount of exercise in the beginning, but the ability to do,it EVERY day, that helps.Take care and stay in touch on here.xoxCheers Robyn
  • Glad to hear you are nearly finished treatment. Chemo does leave you quite weak, I finished in March and am only starting to build my strength up now. I was very fatigued after radiation. Started my hormone tablets 3 weeks, so far so good, early days yet:) It's a long road we travel, all the best, take care,
