Hi, yes it is painful- but will get easier I had my port for my full treatment and still have it in one year later. I have it flushed every six weeks after treatment stopped, but it such a bonus as it will save your veins, as years go by you will require lots of blood tests. Hope you treatment goes well, just mention it to the oncology nurses as they can give you some numbing cream, which may help when they access it.
