Oral Chemo

Has anyone had /been on Oral Chemo?

I would really like to speak to someone who is or has undertaken Oral Chemo.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Paula,  Thanks so much yes my feet have started to hurt and peel already.  So I have been lathering them in the MooGoo cream they have me a few times a day if I can.

  • I am 44 years old, married with a 7 year old and 2 stepchildren 17 and 19.  I was diagnosed with Early Breast Cancer in October 2007 and a secondary in a rib in January 2011 where they took my ovaries out and put me on Femara and have just been diagnosed this week with secondaries in my sacrum, vertebrae and rib.

Next week I start Xeloda 2 weeks on and 1 week off and would like any advice on preventative care ?

  • Hi I have been taking Xeloda for just over a year. After 8 cycles of  taking it for 2weeks on and one week off, some side effects such as cracking, peeling skin on my feet and very dry hands my oncologist reduced the cycle to 2 weeks on and 2weeks off.  Side effects have been minimal (dryness on feet and hands and minor eye infection) and  life is good.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2007 and in August 2007 found that it had spread to my liver. After some intense chemo and trial drug, then 3 different anti hormone treatments, I now take the Xeloda tablets. My cancer marker has stayed down, I have my next CT scan this week and hope the results are stable.

Hope this is reassuring for you

    Best wishes

    Paula
