The test should be subsidised, as it is to the Gov's benefit if it is decided chemo ISN'T necessary ... and saves them mega bucks in not proceeding with unessessary treatment costs in the public realm.. We did genome testing for my husband's cancer and it costs the same.
Mine was hormone POS Lobular .... but it was caught early, not in the nodes and good margins, so they decided I didn't need chemo, even without the test. Tho I did have radiation for 4 weeks.
@JP46 ... it would also give you peace of mind, which ever way the sticks fall. If you find it a financial burden, maybe you could you ask our family members to 'donate $$' instead of birthday/Xmas pressies for this coming year .. to help offset the cost? Win/Win ... they would be happy to enable you to get the test done and you'd know that you'd done your best re ongoing treatment, if necessary.
All the best with your decision making xx
