Not Long Now

Hello

I am having my Education time on Wednesday and then I am starting my Chemo on the following Tuesday which is 19th of August two days after our Wedding Anniversay we have been married 40 years so it will be fairly quiet time this year.

I am so apprehensive about the unknown and I am trying to learn patience but that is hard for me and also putting myself first as I have never done that in all of my time as an adult.

Everyone's blogs and answers to each others question is so inspiring and so full of worth it is very rewarding for me this great network of people experiencing some of the same problems some worse than me and some not as unfortunate but we all are in Journey and all of our messages to each other make it more bearable to cope with.

  • Yes they can stay in with you.I am pretty sure that mist places are the same.Just one support person though because otherwise there would be no room.I had my chemo at RPA in Sydney. You had like a little booth, and there was a chair for your support person. My husband or daughter used to come, and they would run in and out getting me cups of tea or a sandwich:)
  • I will do that Robyn take stuff to do I love crosswords and might listen to some relaxing music I have a friend going with me on the first one as my Husband isn't well do they get to stay in with you sorry for all the questions

  • That is a good idea about the hand sainitizer I will remember that as you worry about catching things. I will try and not to worry about my temp also I will let you know how i progress

Thanks for all your help Robyn

  • I stressed about my temp been up too,but after the first round I relaxed a little, and I thought that if my temp went up I would most likely feel a bit unwell too.Lucky for me,I didn't get sick at all.We put a big bottle of hand sanitizer at our front door, and every time someone came through the door, they had to sanitize their hands. And I mean everyone! A lady visiting me during my 2nd round commented,I've only come straight from home,do you still want me to use this? My reply was,YES!!!Staying away from crowds during the second week helps also, although there will always be people that get sick no matter what they do.Cheers.
  • Hi Robyn

Yes I follow your comments to others and you are a great inspiration and it realy helps to put your mind at ease even though it is difficult.

I am going to keep updating as I go through each bit of the journey and I will remember that about taking everything before needing to as we are 30 k from the hospital

We are near Taree on the Mid Coast of New South Wales in a small place called Harrington so it just takes longer to get to hospital if needed

I worry about my temp being up and having to take it twice a day but I suppose I will get use to it

Thanks again for your kind words Robyn xoxo

  • Can I just jump in here? I used to wonder how it would feel going in to me also! It feels like nothing, and it is actually quite boring as it can go on for a long time! Be sure to take something with you like a crossword or magazine,or perhaps music? Some people actually sleep while they are having chemo! Cheers
  • Hi Hazel

Thankyou for your reply and good luck with your treatment

Yes I will certainly be hopping on here as it lifts you up when u feel down, not that I am too down yet

Yes I feel absolutely terrified even to have the needles inserted into you for chemo and what will be the sensation while it is going into your body.

    Not long too find out

    Hugs and love

  • Hi Michele

I feel so much more relieved hoping I might be like you and not be too unwell as I know everyone is different

Thankyou for your kind words and I hope your second ones is as easy for you

    Hugs and Love your way

  • I wish you well when you start chemo, It's a scary time, reading all the information sheets they give you.  I was absolutely terrified when told I would need chemo. This network put my mind at ease and I made it through. I did 18 weeks of chemo and while it wasn't always a pleasant journey it is doable. It was never as bad as I had anticipated, they have a lot of anti-nausea medicines now and heaps of advice about how to help the niggly side effects. It is hard to put yourself first but if there is ever a good time this is it. Take care and hop onto this site whenever you have questions, there is always someone who will help you, sending big hugs to you,

    Hazel xx
