New secondary diagnosis
Hi all
Its been a long time since I posted but here I am back again.
I was diagnosed oct 2011 with 6 cancers shared amongst both breasts and had a bilateral masectomy, chemo and radiation. After 11 months off work I had my ovaries and tubes out so my treatment would be finished and I could return to work and begin living my new normal.
On Tuesday of this week I was diagnosed with secondary cancer in my left rib after my third bone scan in 6 months for persistent rib pain.
How am I coping ???
After the trauma of once again having to tell my 3 children and my parents I am really pissed off. Pissed off that I finished my treatment less than a year ago. This time last year I was coming to the end of chemo. I feel ripped off that all that treatment didn't kill every cell and treatment will now be an everyday part of life for me.
I see my medical oncologist tomorrow to find out where I go to from here.
I have had a ct scan, X-rays and bloods taken so I can go armed with everything my oncologist might need.

- I had to chuckle reading through these posts. Your sense of humour and positiveness Mel is outstanding as with all our Pink Sisters. I am so glad I found this site. It's literally kept me sane. Mel, you are inspiring! I feel really privileged to be a small part of your support group. I am learning so much about the importance of this sisterhood. - How lucky are we as women that we can express our thoughts and love to our friends so openly. The gorgeous man in my life clearly couldn't deal with the news I received last week so he just didn't make any contact with me for two days. The first contact he made was by text saying " thai baht is only 29 now and we were getting 31" He seemed genuinely surprised that I didn't respond. We celebrated the end of a challenging year with a trip for two to Thailand in April this year and clearly the thought of us getting a better deal on the exchange rate was way more important than my recent news :) Sometimes I think we need to start a post about the silly things people say to cancer patients. My oncologist once told me I was the woman for the job to publish a book about what not to say to cancer patients after I told her a work colleague told me " you're lucky to have BC." This was the same colleague who questioned why I should be approved to have a Friday off work to have a weekend away when " you have just had 11 months off... Why should you get any more time off." Clearly she was jealous of the fantastic 41/2 star surgical and chemo resorts I had spent my 11 months holidaying in. I just wish I had travelled to Thailand for that medical holiday. Maybe I would of got a better boob job over there. The one I got here was so botched by the surgeon I was left with nothing lol Have a great night everyone Mel xxx
- I'm lucky to have a fantastic hubby and two wonderful adult sons so its not all bad and I've got my "pink sisters" now as well!

- I'm so sorry to hear that you have encountered such negativity with your close family members. It must be very hard for you to be going through thr challenges of BC without lots of close family support I hope that those involved will quickly move to change things for you Mel xxx

- We were'nt sisters by birth but we knew from the start that fate brought us together to be sisters by heart.Unknown.Lots of love to all my pink sisters but a world full of thanks to my special pink sister Mel..........Mich xoxoxoxo
