My lungs

Well here I am 16 days after 7 hits of chemo and I certainly have noticed how slowly I have recovered.  By this time I am normally walking for a half an hour, and organizing a coffee.  This time, I am still have 2 hour sleeps in the arvo, and notice a change in my lungs.  I had my Oncologist available at the Radiation Prep appointment yesterday, he said it is a normal side effect of Chemo, and its fluid.  I will return to normal.  It feel weird to take a deep breath and I notice how I lack energy - but not worried.  I assumed it was one of those things that happens.  I am more interested in feeling great by my birthday on May 8th when I have decided we are going to do an overnight trip away.  The Radiation prep was ok and I was surprised at how well I held my arms above my head, but the muscle spasm last night reminded me Id been lying on a hard surface for about 20 mins.  Doctor was busy, so they went looking for him.  The Tattooing is less pain than a blood test so I was happy with that.  I was congratulated on how easy it was for them to work on me...I assumed it was because I have no fat on my body now.  (except for the ab fat on standby hehehe).  Wont throw any clothes away though, I have a tendency to regain weight do to my love of food!  But now I dont eat red meat or drink wine, or have anything sweet, I guess the food thing is no long my hi- light of my life!  Can only imagine how boring my diet must seem to outsiders, because it is so natural...often Im bored!  Our grocery bill has definately gone up.  But I think its the same because I dont eat take away now, and well, we used to drink wine often!  Thats it for me, Im ok!  I am watching to see how all the new people are and giving support!  XX Bel

  • Hey my BellaLovely to see your update.  I am glad your tattooing went well.  I am normally tough but my tatooing hurt - what a whoos am I.  Must be all the extra fat I am carrying hee hee.I remember how I felt after chemo and before radio so vividly because that is when we visited Tassie.  I was so short of breath and heavy breathing along with being exhausted.  It definitely does get better but it does take time so we just have to be patient.Make sure you are proactive with your health though.  If you feel anything is worrying you then you can ask to speak to a nurse or doctor throughout your radiotherapy.  I was so lucky that one of the fellows that did my radiotherapy every day that should I mention I was concerned about something he would always get a nurse to see me.  I think I was blessed to have him as not everyone will be so efficient so that is when you need to speak up if you have any concerns what so ever.  I have certainly learnt to do that these day.Keep looking after yourself and well done for being so good with your diet Bella.Onwards and upwards.Lots of love, Mich xoxoxoxo
