My hair is falling out - fast

It is 11 days after my first chemo treatment and my hair is starting to fall out - fast.

It starting coming out this morning and has progressively got thinner and thinner as the day has progressed as I have been running my fingers throught it.

I know this is totally to be expected and I have even got a wig ready to go but I am really struggling to cope. I feel like screaming or crying but of course I'm not as my husband and children are downstairs and I don't want them to know what a mess I really am at the moment...

I am going to have to ask my husband to cut my hair really really short before I go to bed tonight and will then try and face up to the 'big shave' tomorrow morning.

Is there anything anyone can suggest to make it easier?

    Hi Jenny,

I just wanted to check in a see how you were going? And thought you might find attending a Look Good..Feel better workshop a real help. It is a free community service program that provides useful information and tips specifically tailored to help women deal with the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatments. Johjoh recently shared her experience of attending in this blog post: http://www.bcna.org.au/user/16797/blog/77438

I hope you can attend one near you and it will help to meet with others going through exactly what you are!
