Lung injury post chemo

Hi brave sisters,

I've just finished chemo, the last 3 Docetaxal, and developed a pretty bad shortness of breath. Brush my teeth & I'm out of breath, a shower needs recovery time. With chemo over I thought I was through the worst of it. Now they say I can't start radiation till chemo induced pneumonitis has recovered. Then I'm prone to more lung injury with radiation. Has anyone had experience with this? How long does it take to recover? How long was treatment delayed for? Would love to hear from anyone that's been through this.

wishing you all rest, peace and joy at this busy time of year,

with love,

Tracey

Hi Tracey, I became short of breath with docetaxel, and my oncologist said that it was because my red blood cell count had dropped, not enough for a blood transfusion though. Took about 4 weeks for me to come good. After rads finished (started that 3 weeks after chemo finished) my rads oncologist listened to my chest and gave me the all clear. Everyone is different with their reactions to treatments. Hoping that you're feeling well soon. Big cuddles, Trace ????????

  • Hi Christine,

i guess we each have our own experience but a common shared goal - we just want life to be good again. No matter how difficult these times are I am convinced that this too shall pass. Goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our life. Thanks for your kind wishes, hope you are doing well,

    Tracey ??

  • Hi Tracey,

I didn't have the same chemo as you nor the lung problems. Just wanted to wish you well and hope that you start to pick up soon.
