HIGH AS A KITE
After finishing rads last Tuesday I had my first follow up visit today, Monday. New blisters had developed on Sunday night while I was sleeping and things were looking very ouchy but still no weeping because of the StataXRT. They took me into a little treatment room and placed moist pads all over the area to numb and soften. They waited and waited to make sure the scabs and blisters were ready to be peeled off piece by piece with a miniature tweezer. A little plastic cup was full of it by the time she'd finished and my skin was completely pink and raw underneath but still I felt NOTHING. In fact it felt nice to get all that ghastly, scratchy, flakey, gravelly, scabby shit off me which was now sticking to my clothes and making everything scrathcy.
Then on goes the flamazine and on top of that a mepital (shock horreur, lol) dressing, not the film but a lovely soft foamy product.
Then in comes my beautiful Russian radiologist (she's been in an out for the entire procedure which took about 2 hours) and sticks a patch on my back. It's a 7 day (!) slow release opioid and takes 24 hours to kick in. So she gives me an Endone to take tonite, a drug I'm very accustomed to.
Well I feel fucking fabulous and I'm sure the patch has kicked in a bit sooner than expected.
Sometimes I get lucky, lol.
