Hair cut
Told my hair WILL fall out day 16 - tomorrow!! So... Wednesday was day 13 after chemo 1 and I took my wig to my hairdresser who has followed my life's journeys for 15 years. She cut my hair all off to a short hair cut, then a punk style and then all crew cut! My girlfriend brought the champagne and we had a few laughs. I was ready to have it off as it felt lifeless and was thinning onto my bathroom floor - but not obvious so much to others.
When I arrived home my two daughters, partners and kids were waiting for me - WEARING WIGS! It was so funny.

It has been interesting having an almost bald head but a shadow of my hair still. I thought I'd only want to wear the wig to feel normal. But I very quickly found a couple of scarves I feel comfortable wearing and a 'bamboo' cap.

I was sure I'd only want to wear the wig cos I am also feeling I'm rather too vain. But I am loving the scarves for non special occasions. Still not sure how my 2 year old grandson will take to scarf look.... Loving losing hair elsewhere on the body!!! Haha Always a positive!
Tim then turned up with a multicoloured wig! Just to keep the laughs going. :)

How gorgeous are your family - what a supportive thing to do. Laughing is truly the best medicine. I love the baby in the pink wig. What a wonderful photo. You look great in the scarves and the cap. They really suit you - quite stunning. They weren't really in when I lost my hair so I put up with the wig which was really hard in summer when I wanted to scratch my scalp! I was terribly distressed about losing my hair and the hardest thing was realising I was so vain. I was seriously ill yet I worried most about being bald. Isn't that pathetic. The thing that worried me the most was that I would lose my eyebrows! I didn't really but they did thin out. The bonus is that underarm hair never really grew back although hair everywhere else did and quite thickly. So there is always a silver lining. Best wishes.

- CherylekMemberYes, I had the AC chemo, and I kept saying to the nurses how can you be so sure that it will come off in 2 to 2 1/2weeks? I had hair just below my shoulders, when it thinned I cut it to the same length as the wig. After that it was the no 3. Sure enough it was just on 2 1/2 weeks. In the big scheme of things I know it's just hair and it will grow back, but it's still upsetting and it's an obvious sign of BC (unless one has a mastectomy of course). Even the breast care nurse at Epworth Freemasons said in all the time she's being doing this job she's only had one patient who kept their hair! Oh well all we can do is keep smiling and know that we will get through this and our hair will grow back. Cheers Cheryle.:)

- Thanks, Daina. Cheryl, did you have AC chemo? I am up to end of day 19 and still have the no 1 crew cut the hair dresser gave me. I'm sure it's about to 'wash off' as I was told 100% guarantee..... Erica
