GETTING STARTED
Hi Ladies,
Had my visit to the oncologist today, have to start Chemo on Wednesday 25/08/15, so overwhelmed, anxious, scared of what to expect, I know this is the next step in my journey to wellness...
Hi Robyn,
All the best for next week. I think I'm having the similar chemo to you. Next week I complete my 4th cycle of AC treatment at the local public hospital (it was 3 weeks apart). The nausea didn't come on til day 3 (when the wonderful emend tablet had worn off). The nurses gave me a mixture of pills to take after, & and I kept up the maxalon 4 times a day for about a week.
I have always had a support person with me, first time was my hubby and other times were a rotation of friends. I would take a drink bottle, my favourite shawl, magazine, book. I found the time flew, nurses were entertaining and knew how to allay my fears. A lovely tea lady would visit regularly with sandwiches, cakes tea, jelly etc I found I couldn't concentrate on much. The nurses run extra fluid into your vein so you do feel cool. Ask for an extra blanket if needed. That's why I take my shawl/throw.
All the best with the treatment.
Karen xx
