GETTING STARTED
Hi Ladies,
Had my visit to the oncologist today, have to start Chemo on Wednesday 25/08/15, so overwhelmed, anxious, scared of what to expect, I know this is the next step in my journey to wellness...
Hi Robyn
Don't be surprised if the day is a bit of an anti climax. Side effects will usually kick in a couple of days after the infusion. Yes take someone with you and take something to do because it can be quite boring. My girlfriend made morning teas for everyone in the day oncology unit each time we went. Once I was hooked up, we would wander around the ward offering everyone a treat. I'm not suggesting that you do this but definitely chat to others whilst you are there. I have made some wonderful friends whom I am still in contact with. You usually see regulars who are always there the same time as you. We laughed lots and it sounds quite ridiculous, but we quite enjoyed chemo days catching up (It was a few days later that the laughter stopped and the yuckyness started) Good luck with it all.
