FREAKING OUT

Morning Ladies,

I am in total panic, have my first chemo tomorrow morning, I am hoping it is not the MONSTER I think it is going to be. I am telling myself that it is the next phase & there is sunshine at the end. Hope everyone has a great day..

Take care,

Robyn xx

Hi Robyn, just sending you positive vibes for tomorrow. Once you're past your first chemo, you'll know how to manage the side effects. Go slowly, and take good care of yourself, Trace ????

  • Hi Jane, I too will have my husband with me, I also have a colour book & some magazines.. Good to know that the side effects don't kick in the same day otherwise I would have thought I got off lightly :) I will definitely tell the oncology staff about any side effects thanks for the tip.

    Take care,

    Robyn xx

  • Hi Anne, I am off to yoga tonight so hope that will settle me ,good tip to ask the nurses for something as I have anxiety normally so will keep that in mind.

    Take care

  • Jane is spot in Robyn. The oncology nurses and staff are brilliant and will look after you well...especially for the first one. Try to relax and take something to read or do as it can take a while. Pre chemo anxiety is normal but if too stressed let them know and they can give you something to help calm the nerves. Alternatively try some meditation or yoga beforehand to relax. Best wishes Anne

  • Hi Robyn, it's absolutely natural to feel anxious about chemo, but for the most part it is quite uneventful.

In my experience, the oncology staff are brilliant and get you at ease very quickly. They usually take it a lot slower on this first cycle so they can monitor you very closely. My first chemo session (taxotere, carboplatin & Herceptin) took almost 8 hours, so was glad to have my hubby to talk to, my ipad, magazines, music etc.

The following week or so may be when you feel the effects, but tell your oncologist about any side effects and they can usually be minimised, so don't tough it out! Best wishes, Jane xx
