First day

well had my first chemo session yesterday. So overwhelmed by the amazing nurses at John Flynn and they put a lot of my fears to bed. Got there at 9 but didn't leave till 5.30. I did tell them that I have bad veins and jinxed myself and by 11.30 I was down in ICU having a Picc line put in. Obviously that held everything up. So after some lunch it all got underway. Feeling good this morning and temp is 36.2 so all is well. Have to go back this arvo to get a waterproof dressing over the port

  • Hi Louisa, it's a relief to get that first chemo done and the PICC will take the stress out of future chemo. Did they give you some plastic sleeves to wear in the shower? I thought the plastic dressing was waterproof but it filled up like a swimming pool when I showered. Take it easy for the next few days, hope all goes well, Tracey??

  • Good to hear. The pic line will make each treatment so much easier. I opted for a port from the start, knowing I have shocking peripheral veins. It was a good decision for me. Not ready to give it up yet, lol.

You had a long day yesterday. Hope you can take it easy today.

    Take care, Lyn

  • Good to hear you sailed though well after an initial hiccup.
