First day chemo didnt happen today ??

Hi to all.

Well today was the big day first day of chemo. Woke up with sore breast and the original red area was inflamed plus a whole new area as well.

Arrived at chemo ward, temp almost 38, pulse rate 120, blood pressure up, beetroot red face, possibly from the steroids I was pit on yesterday.

They done breast scan, no abscess thank goodness.

Took 7 attempts, 2 nurses and 1 doctor to get a vein that worked for the canular.

So in hospital tonight on Iv antibiotics, 2 lots. The second one started to give me an allergic reaction, so was given antihistamine, which settled mostoif the itching burning fingertips and hands where the allergy started. Got to have it again tonight so praying no more reactions.

So feel like been through the wringer today. Hoping and praying its more smooth sailing after this and chemo gets under way week.

Hope every one is travelling well their end. Smiles to you.

On a positive note I will attach a picture I took from outside my home the other day. Love my photography. Brings me great joy. Hope you like it xxx

  • Hi Kazza

Hope you are feeling better today,  getting your AB's and on road to recovery.  Nothing worse then being A pin cushion,  I'm a nurse and know being a patient is not easy,  as a nurse I hate hurting my patient.  I start chemo next week,  reading about your day makes me shudder.  Hope things go a little more smoothly for you.  Big hugs

    Sonya ??

  • Oh you poor thing. What a start.

Well all I can say is, you're in the best possible hands. My last chemo was a bit hard. The chemo was making the vein irritated and they had to swap arms halfway through. I was there 6 hours in all. Yes, you do feel like a bit of a pin cushion. But just keep thinking positive thoughts and blow this cancer to Kingdom come!!

Hope all goes well for you next time.xx

  • Oh Kazza, I remember it all too well xx I had high blood pressure the first chemo too pulse rapid terrified of the unknown. the chemo nurse was good right enough calmed me right . I'm sorry re the not getting your vein too bad I was not your nurse I would have got it I'm a retired nurse had to quit because of stupid arthritis. Your photograph is lovely. I will send you good vibes that everything from now on will go good for you and you can get your chemo started and completed.
