FIRST CHEMO DONE
I started chemo this week on Thursday. I was really apprehensive. The nurse was jsut awesome with me. There was a problem with the tape on the portacaht which needed attention which the wonderful nurse I had done with such gentleness, Thankfully the blisters I had on the site under that tape is healing nicely and the replacing tape which was removed today did not cause any reaction so I made sure I got the name of it to be used only..
I met and talked with some ladies going through treatment some of them starting radiation, they were all so very encouraging knowing I am on my first chemo.I am told tomorrow the side effects will hit so better be prepared for it.Have a nice weekend. By the way the user name is RoseRosse2717. It has been amended..by the moderator.

HI Johnann,
Wow one year already from your first chemo can I ask this please if even fouteen days apart the chemo had such a nasty effect on me , tiredness etc, what will happen if they say weekly chemo is needed this I believe will be more more extreme, how did any members handle it if this was the case as I heard l;adies saying they had it weekly but was to scared to hear the answer if I asked.
Enjoy your dayxx
HI twilght,
I am doing my chemo on the Gold Coast so it seems different to where you are. I do nto think there is cold cap as I personally did not hear about it. So for me I think it will, go the way I had heard falling ( with me) after second chemo. I just have to deal with it when it happens and try to be strong.
Today five days after chemo I am a little bit better less tired than yesterday I did need to take the "extra anti nausea tablet last night, I had resisted for a long time so that my sugar levels do not rise, but got to the stage that I had no choice but to take the anti nausea tablet to settle my stomach.
Who knows maybe as time goes by the after chemo days become a little easier to handle than the first days of my first chemo.I just passed from. . Thanks for all your MUch appreciated and I mean it with all my heart.
Have a nice day.
- PaulaNMemberI'm assuming by your comment about blood sugars that you're diabetic. I am too. Paula

Depends where u having chemo to some hospitals don't have cold cap i had my chemo at RAH as Lyell Mcewin does not jave cold cap and u have to wash your hair every 3 days if u have cold cap and i have to wash it with baby shampoo and a gentle comditioner. My hair looks horrible at moment as i am use to washing it every day so it foes not have a greasy look. I can wash it tomorrow so that will be good o need to put a plastic sleeve over my right arm to try mot to get picc line wet and nurse will come every thursday to flush it and see if the dressing on it needs changing my sevond chemo is on the 29th and on the 28th need blood test done and doctor will put more fluid in expanders.

First chemo done, that's excellent news. Be kind to yourself, we all react very differently. It's now a year since my first chemo. You do get through it, one day at a time. Sending hugs xx
HI twilight girl,
It seems you started like me you went Friday, for your first and I on Thursday. I never asked about the cold cap but I will ask before starting the second one, but maybe it is too late by now. I wish the hair falling will not happen if I can prevent it from happening I will ask about the cold cap. Maybe it has to happen with chemo and there is no choice to prevent it.Thanks twilight girl for your post.xxx
HI Brenda,
I have thick hair so might have same reaction like you had after fourteen days and which they told me the falling of hair comes after second chemo but I be sure to ask the nurse about the cold cap maybe it is too late now but I ask anyway. This falling of hair is going to be traumatic for me but another hurdle I guess to conquer. Thanks Brenda for your post. You are all so friendly and helpful.xxx
Hi GeorginaMary,
I guess that is a good way of looking at it, I have started the road to recovery which for me I am told can be from 8 to 12 months. But as you said a procedure close to recovery. Thanks for the comment. xxx
HI Paulan,
No the nurse did not mention a cold cap for me. I am utterly exhausted and so tired and sleepy which I was told can stay for a couple of days. So far did not need to take the other anti nausea pills apart from the first four I had to take. In my case that is good as those will elevate my sugar levels the anti nausea pills. Thanks for your concern, much appreciated. xxx
HI thanks Scorpiuon queen I have AC breast cancer don't really know what it means but it was caught early during a mammogram screening. The lymph modes are not effected.I am told my treatment can take a year to be finalized. For starters I am having four treatments then testings like with an ultra sound to see how chemo is working. I am so utterly exhausted unbelievable and my sugar levels are high which I am told this will be the case with nausea pills so will not make it easier for me.
Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.
