Hello Shirley,
I had different treatment to you - 6 months of chemo across 16 treatments. I chose to have a portacath because of so many treatments, although I didn't like it. I got it taken out as soon as treatment finished! I found it helpful at treatment time to close my eyes, take slow breaths and picture a beautiful scene like a lake or a beach with warm sunshine and love.
I had lots of side effects but none of the very serious ones (like being admitted to hospital with an infection) so I feel I was quite lucky.
I did find that the side effects were a bit worse on the first treatment and then eased a little. I don't have young children so I was able to rest when I needed it. So I hope you have lots of loving support from those around you. It's lovely to let them take care of you as far as possible. And to soak in the pleasure of watching your four year old grow and explore.
Hugs,
Gillian
