Finished taxol woo!

Had my 12th and final taxol yesterday! Felt almost sad about it in a weird way! Will be odd not driving to the hospital every Weds but will still be going every 3 weeks for herceptin so they can't get rid of me that easily just yet!

I now have a 6 week break until I start 5 weeks of radiotherapy.

I'm taking my kids away to Singapore and Malaysia for 8 days in my time off as a well deserved treat for them as they've been amazing although not a lot has changed as I still do everything as normal with them albeit with a lot less hair (and sometimes patience!)

I see my oncologist again in 3 weeks and I'll start the tamoxifen then too. Have heard horrid things about it but I heard lots of horror stories of chemo side effects and got none so I'm hoping to be as lucky with the tamoxifen....I'm also going to ask her if I can elect to have a hyserectomy to reduce the risk of uterine cancer from the tamoxifen but the nurses I spoke to yesterday said she probably wouldn't recommend it as I'm not 40 yet. Also seeing my surgeon, physio for an arm sleeve for flying and my radiotherapy simulation.....busy busy few weeks!!

Anyway, just wanted to say 'yay' to finishing my taxol and looking forward to some hair regrowth! I have just ordered some shampoo and conditioner that claims to make your hair grow 2 inches in 4 weeks so I'll see how that works when it arrives!

Hope everyone else is going well and feeling good....Spring is almost here!

  • Wow, it's a great feeling to be finished with the taxol. So glad you've a holiday lined up with the kids. I'm just about to start radiotherapy next week and I've been told to not start tamoxifen until a couple of weeks after radio finishes. Hope your hair grows fast. I can now walk out the door without a beanie on if it's above 5 degrees with my extremely short crop.
