I am concerned at how often opinion gets presented as fact when it comes to cancer. My standard response to a lot of these claims is 'How interesting. Where can I see the data for that?" I think it's reasonable to conclude that if a particular chemical has been classified as carcinogenic following legitimate research then putting it on your body is a bad idea. The fact that your mother uses hair dye and doesn't relapse makes her lucky, but it doesn't prove that the hair dye was free from carcinogens. Unfortunately the only way to be sure is to check all of the ingredients by searching with the ingredient name and 'cancer'.
Or you can just take you chances.
But it's still important to differentiate between opinion and fact because statements like 'organic is hard to police because insecticides travel in the air' scare people. In fact, organic is very easy to police because they test the soil. If pesticides have been carried in the air they will show up in the soil.
