Depleted NOT defeated......

Morning Troopers!

Thought I'd get in earlier before I run out of puff!

I hope you are all sailing along smoothly and for those who aren't sending love an light and gentle hugs your way!

From today's FB page post:

Morning All,

Well what a absolutely shit afternoon yesterday! I can only describe it as being fully under an anaesthetic but you're still awake!! O.O

Took all of my strength just to get my head off the pillow and not to actually vomit. But.....

Today is another day.....

DAY 2 - after first round of chemo:
Had quite a restful nights sleep, promoted by the fact I was totally exhausted. Woke at 4 am, sat up to go to the bathroom and BAM! Hello nausea! Damn it! Shuffled to bathroom and then back to bed...took a sip of water and that awoke the hell fire that's residing in my stomach at the moment...drifted back off into la la land.

Woke again at 7 am, showered, how great is it to have fresh clean hair!? Managed to eat as I need to have food in my belly for the anti nausea tablets and steroid I need to take, but coffee is no longer my friend frown emoticon

The steroid is Dexamethosone and even though I'm not on what's considered a high dose, I think it gave me the shakes this morning. It's pretty powerful stuff! I remember it's what got my M.I.L to my niece's wedding heart emoticon and made my dad feel like superman, so much so he decided to clean his roof! I only have to take it for one more day, so I don't think it will have that effect on me smile emoticon

Apart from my medical team, I have Ron and Jordan, daily phone calls from Brooke and apprentice nurse Rusty, who follows me around and even comes into the room to check on me! I also have all of you...

Today, I will watch movies and nap. maybe go for a little walk around the yard, I found this did help with my nausea yesterday. All in all letting the cocktail of chemicals have their way, while attempting to gather my strength to deal with whatever else is thrown my way.

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and I'm so glad some of my Pink Troopers are following from BCNA! Every post is read and acknowledged....Soaking in the love heart emoticon

Have a great day smile emoticon

-Tracy

  • Thanks so much for posting. My 1st chemo is fast approaching and at least I know a little of what to expect. Hope energy returns soon. Stay strong.

  • Yep that first one is a hell of a shock to the system and I am glad I am past that now. Replace some coffee with milk if you can have milk. At least it puts a lining in your stomach so you can take some meds and when feeling a little more alive you can have some breakfast of sorts. I think my first round I had just plain dry toast for a few days but at least it was something. When you are off the steroids, I would say reach for the long acting pain killers as it will take away a lot of the on fire nostrils, dry throat and stuff. I just weathered it the first round and it was awful. Now I am not afraid to take the pills. Drink tons of water! It takes about 5 days to flush out the worst of the chemo drugs. Your kidneys and liver need that water.
