Delayed yet again

HI all,

Just writing to vent my frustrations, mainly towards my own body. I have been delayed for yet another week as my platelet levels have failed to come back up after my last round of chemo four weeks ago. I was due to have round 5 /10 last week but after a blood test today was informed they will try again next week. I am currently having TCH every 3 weeks .....does anyone have any suggestions in regards to raising platelet levels. All suggestions are welcomed

  • Maybe we can stand together with the crystals Anna, power in numbers may help. Hopefully things pick up for you quickly x

  • Oh, I share your frustration at delays.  My platlets have behaved but my White and neurtophil counts have been low despite Neulasta AND neupogen injections.  I am now 7 weeks behind with my chemo regime.  I would have been finishing my Taxol next week if I had been able to continue on it.   Fingers crossed a dose reduction will do the trick for you.    I haven't heard of any magic solution to bring up platelets or White cells.  I've considered some alternative stuff - maybe I should be hanging some crystals behind each ear and facing the east more often!  Good luck.
  • Hey JanineThat is good news, I am glad they are doing something to help you with this problem.  Hopefully that will make things work better for you and you can get on with things with no more delays.Thinking of you and wishing you well.Lots of love always, Mich xoxo
  • I do have the neulasta injection each time so my whites are good, it's my platelets that are not coming back up. Today I was told they are reducing my doses by quite a lot to stop the delays.
  • Do you have the Neulasta injections after your chemo? I had to have one every time I had chemo to get my levels back up...
  • Oh the frustrations, of chemo i understand ... I've been making carrot apple juice with ginger each day it has helped me increase my levels. My friend suggested juicing each day I got the OK from my oncologist to have juices and smoothies etc I'm craving lots of green veggies broccoli Brussel sprouts etc

I suggest asking your oncologist for some suggestions also search on here the blog about what to eat.

    It's OK to vent
