Day 2 after chemo 2

Day 2 after chemo 2, Sat 6th Feb. The goodies bag I was sent home with. All of that for that little needle I have to give myself at about 5pm today in my stomach fat (I still have plenty of that). Got a free thermometer which is  good as I think my battery is nearly flattery in the old one. The Mediband wrist tag I now have to wear all the time to make sure no one takes blood pressure from my lymphedema arm again. Feeling not too bad today although I only made 1/3 of the morning dog walk and the guys had to take over the rest while I sat down and got my heart settled. Its a bit upset over the chemo and usually takes about a week to stop protesting. No nausea and just a little tired is all.

  • I think I got a little high on the injection. Ended up cooking dinner and you have never seen me cut up carrots so fast. I am lucky I didn't cut any of my fingers. Washed up, then cleaned all those parts of kitchen benches you never get around to. Cleaned my room of piles of clothes not been put away in weeks. Talked a mile a minute and watched dvds and ate my head off till after midnight. Up this morning at 5 and breakfast done and dogs walked by 6.30am. I might need a little nap soon I think.

  • Hubby to the rescue for me, no way I could do it myself.  Is it the gold plated one value wise? ??

  • It was easy peasy, barely felt it. Not a whole lot of nerves in the flabby bit after being pregnant twice. I just put it in and went omg I have done it, then the fiddly bit of pushing the plunger and then it just springs up and the needle comes out by itself. I don't think there will be a bruise either. Can't hardly even see the prick mark any more. Feeling proud of myself.

  • Hi Brenda I gave myself same injection twice ( I'm sure you've done it by now ) there's a good video on utube a girl getting taught to do it just search whilst I got bone pain from injection touch wood I never ended up in hospital with infections xx

  • Brenda, I'm surprised you haven't had to go back to chemo unit for the first one at least. I did, & I'm a nurse. I had also earlier on had to give myself clexane for a month, due to a superficial clot I developed. I did give subsequent ones myself, though. Not as bad as clexane!

    Take care, Lyn

  • Wow love your goodies bag, the only thing I get is the needle which I pay for.  Yes I have to look into the wrist band as I too can't have any blood taken from left arm.... You are brave to give yourself the needle I actually go to my GP and get it done the next day.

  • Good to hear you're doing ok Brenda!

I hope I don't have to inject  myself! Don't think I could do that!

Live and light for easy recovery and beautiful days....
