Day 17 after chemo

Day 17 after chemo, Sunday 31st Jan. Glorious day today of no Drs, no tests, no boys running into town job hunting, just an easy day all round. The trouble is I thought by now I would be back to normal and doing a few things like gardening but I am so wiped out by the dawdling 3k dog walk this morning I had to go back to bed for half an hour to muster the strength to get up and make breakfast. Just feeling a little cheated today. I mean I had the mastectomy to take the cancer; I had all my lymph nodes out under my arm to make sure we got it all and the first round of chemo was over 2 weeks ago. I thought I would be feeling like a million bux by now but nope, just tired and lethargic. Still annoyed my hair fell out too, stupid darn disease.

  • Take it easy ladies and listen to your bodies. There will be good days and bad days just be easy on yourself. We all expect so much and put the pressure on ourselves. Focus on getting through treatment and before you know it you will be back to your wonder woman self.

  • Oh you have three little bundles of trouble, they look great!

Re the house work I am one of those who bump myself just using a vacuum cleaner and have to go get the band aid box so hubby les just sweeps here and there and the carpets will just have to wait until I get back on the mend.

  • Oh he looks simply gorgeous! I have two standard Schnauzers now missing their beards so they are clean faced and chemo friendly but they still have their long eyebrows.

The little washing I have hung out on occasion I got my orange plastic Gorilla step from the fish room so I can use one hand to hang and one hand to peg. Where there's a will there's a way.

Killing me not to get in the garden and prune off everything over growing. Hubby does do some but I have to hold him in moderation or things will be cut off at ground level! I asked him one day after a particularly savage pruning, what is the purpose of that ground cover bush? He said ummm the pretty yellow flowers? Yup, do you see a single solitary pretty yellow flower left on the one foot square and three inches high of bush now? Ummmm nope, but it will grow back. Luckily for him it did eventually lol.

  • Oh gosh naughty babies!

    Lucky you have neighbourhood watch!

Rusty is a Shetland Sheepdog,,he is 6/12 months old, but won't get much bigger now... He's a good boy for his age and super attentive!

We bred and showed British Bulldogs for over 20 years.... Our last male passed in 2009. Was Time for a change...

  • Very cute and do doubt better behaved than my three. Neighbour just knocked on the door after my babies decided to go on a little adventure around the block!

  • Sook number 3 here today too. I managed to make toast for breakfast at 1pm today. Yay!!! That's it. Haven't done anything else. Now back in bed with very low BP. Sitting here thinking wouldn't it be great if I could muster the strength to clean the kitchen, put away clean clothes, clean out the fridge, vacuum my bedroom, clean the ensuite and tidy the family room later this afternoon - all the things that desperately need doing. Mind you 2 out of 3 sons still in bed at 1.27pm oblivious to all this.... sigh. Where is my Genie, Fairy Godmother or whatever when I need them? Wish I could wave a magic wand for all of us.

    Take care, Nadine

  • Oh Brenda... Looks like it's a silly sooky Sunday for both of us!

I too ventured outside, played with my gorgeous pup Rusty... Tried to pick up leaves, tried to hang washing one armed, it's a bit hot here today, don't want to overdo it, I'm home alone , put hubby on day release on the motorcycle, God knows he's earned it!

I'm  really starting to wonder how long my facade will last, especially once I start treatment!

    Sending you virtual hugs!

    Take care of you

    xx

    rusty sends his love too!
