Day 12 after chemo

Day 12 after chemo, Tuesday 26th Jan, Australia Day. I got up this morning like a walking zombie. Issued orders to son he is doing the dog walk and went back to bed. Half of Australia Day is gone already but at least I am up for lunch. I might need one more nap yet to stay up for the afternoon and evening. Not sick, just tired.

  • Yes it all does heal in a day or several. The mouth thing was the hardest I think although this burning sunspots thing was pretty bad. It all does pass though. Soldiering on.

  • Know just how you feel, Brenda.  Day 19 of my first cycle and thursday I have the 2nd chemo.  *UGH*  Within hours of my first chemo I got the 'metal mouth' syndrome lol  NOT nice.  Within 24 hours huge bone pains and muscle pain, thrush of the mouth, and an overwhelming tiredness.  Fought it for the first couple of days, but in the end I conceded and now I just sleep/nap about hourly.... and I don't give a damn.  Only good thing is how much weight I've lost.... 7 kilos!!!   Although all a bit too fast.  Thankfully, I've just discovered about the only thing doesn't make me want to barf is jelly and tinned fruit.... (or fresh).  I'm kind of over the jelly/fruit thing now though.  What I wouldn't give for a REAL meal that doesn't taste and feel like sawdust.  *sigh*

But, Brenda, don't fight the tiredness.  You're body is telling you it doesn't appreciate the poison..... go with it and just nap as often as you need.

    Happy snoozing :))
