Chemotherapy

Had my first visit to the oncologist today. She has advised that i start Docetaxel and Carboplatin in a 4 x cycle within 6 weeks after surgery. She wants me to have the genetic testing rushed through as she thinks that there is a high risk of it being hereditary. Matter of factly said she would just have a double mastectomy and full hysterectomy if you have a gene. All makes your head spin!!!!

  • How did you cope with your chemotherapy. How come you had to have radiation if you had a double mastectomy?

    Thanks

  • I have had the blood test for the genetic side of things. Just keeping an open mind until I get these back. Will start chemotherapy and see how it goes from there. Thanks for your comments

  • I am also triple negative with a family history.

After a double mastectomy, 12 weeks of chemo with Taxol/Carboplaten, 28 radiation therapies and a full hysterectomy in 2012, I am now fit and well and living life to the full.

We don't have a lot of options for treatment, so I took everything that was available, and will always be thankful to my medical team.

Once you start it passes quickly - keep a diary for remembering dates, symptoms, questions, etc. as life gets very full on.

All the best with your treatment.  Stay in touch.  Big hug.  xx Michelle
