Hi, so its 5 weeks since my diagnosis and i have had 3 operations and now preparing for  chemo to start on Thursday. Starting to get nervous. Having 4 ac rounds, one every 2 weeks and then 12 weekly Taxol rounds.

  • Thanks Leonie. Had the first ac dose today and was not as bad as i expected. Hopefully the side effects are not to bad.

  • Understandable to feel nervous.  Just make sure you discuss all side effects, no matter how trivial as slight medication adjustments can make a huge difference in how you feel. Hope all is smooth sailing. Kath x

  • I had different chemo to you and it was hours, with the first dose several hours. I took my laptop and an uplifting dvd which I had seen before and once all the chemo stuff was set up my husband plugged in my laptop to a spare point behind the chair and I watched my movie with the head set on and chatted to my supportive friends on face book in private messages. The time went quite quickly then. My thoughts on reading a book went out the window as my brain couldn't quite focus on a book and my eyes didn't want to read properly either but a movie was great! BTW it was Twister, the movie, great music. All the best for your chemo. XXXX

  • HI Michelle,

I've just finished my 4 ac and 12 taxols (last dose last Thursday), I've done pretty well through the run, no hospital runs, no major reactions, yes aches and pains, and the sickly dizzy feeling with the ac wasn't nice, but be kind to yourself, rest, eat good snacks frequently if you're feeling a bit sick, you will make it through, one dose at a time.

At the tail end now I can't believe it's been 6 months of treatments so far, with such great nurses in the oncology centre and lots of friends willing to give me laughter and great care when I really wasn't feeling my best.

Stay strong and when you feel battle weary just take the day as it comes and enjoy the small things in life.

Best wishes and good luck, I hope you have a smooth run, sending you hugs,

    Leonie
