  • Hi Tink, you poor thing, you do sound squeamish. I am sure they are all very good at their job, and removal of the PICC line is something they prob do often. Do worry about it, I'm sure itd be the least of your worries. How are you going, hope all is well. My mum has come to my place (she lives in qld an me in SA ) and we don't get to see each other real often. So I am really happy. ATM. I have chemo and radio app. On Monday to discuss the procedure. Cheers Juli.
  • Hi Tink, thanks for this info and encouragement. I could understand why you didn't want a port. How long does the PICC Line stay in for. Hope you are keeping well. Cheers Juli.
  • Hi sezzy, that's a really good point. Thank you. Just out of curiosity, I think my veins should be ok. If they put a port in , is that done under local anaesthetic, do you know? Sezzy so you have found the chemo (i was going to say ok, but I will stick with what you've said), manageable. Thanks for your help Juli.

  • Hi Juli, you could also ask how they will be giving it to you each time. They may cannulate you or give u the option of a pic line or port. I have had two chemo's and they have cannulated twice. But they are nervous each time to find my veins. Maybe do a little research so you can make an informed decision. Don't be too nervous, I have found it manageable so far. Good luck!
  • Thank you Deanne fir you great advice. Thank you jpetrou ( you sound like me, I've sent messages twice or they have not sent at all hehe). Thanks for your great help. Juli
  • 2nd attempt to reply hope this works I forgot to ask for a medical certificate for work and a blood test script. Make sure to do a blood test prior to commencing chemo so you don't wait for results on the day like I did. I am half way thru TC chemo, not as bad as i had imagined, doing ok, drinks lots, eat well and rest when you need to. You see your oncologist before each chemo cycle and you also receive paperwork on your chemo type that includes side effects and contact numbers for concerns you may have once you have started. I also had AC chemo 12 years ago... Good luck Julia
