@LeighLeigh - Yep - I was definitely surprised at who hung around & stepped up to the plate & supported me/us (my husband had cancer too) & who disappeared :( Some don't know 'what to say' so they say NOTHING - and that really hurts.
But as @Blossom1961 said - it is amazing the 'new buddies' that you make (particularly here on this forum) where many of us have made seriously good friendships that we maintain offline as well, we even meet up in person & catch up. (I spent a week in Darwin before Covid, with a buddy from here!) and can't wait to do it again!! ;) I caught up with Blossom1961 last year when I was in Vic - and it was just so good, putting a face to the lovely person I'd been chatting with for a few years xx
Feel free to put up any comments that you'd like re helping your cousin thru her treatment, as you went thru it too xx ....
We started a 'carer' private group a while back - as it can be a minefield navigating all the bumps, specially getting on to Care Plans & assistance in the home etc specially at the pointy end .... I am sure you would have some real gems of info that could help others who are doing the same!
Take care
